Ber|noul|li's law
Ber|noul|li's principle, Ber|noul|li's law, or Ber|noul|li's theorem «bur NOO leez»,
1. Physics. the principle that the total energy per unit of mass in the streamline flow of a moving fluid is constant, being the sum of the potential energy, the kinetic energy, and the energy due to pressure. The faster the fluid flows, the less the pressure, and vice versa.
2. Statistics. the principle that as the number of random trials of an event increases, the probability of the event's occurrence increases proportionately.
[(def. 1) < Daniel Bernoulli, 1700-1782, a Swiss mathematician, who formulated it; (def. 2) < Jacob Bernoulli, 1654-1705, a Swiss mathematician, who formulated it]
